St. William’s Living Center COVID-19 Situation Update October 24, 2020

Dear St. William’s Living Center and McCornell Court Residents, Friends, and Families:

This week we tested all residents and staff of St. William’s Living Center and McCornell Court.  We had one staff person test positive during this round of testing; fortunately, this staff person was already on quarantine due to a known exposure.  This means that the employee that tested positive did not work in the facility while infectious and therefore did not have any contact with staff or residents while infectious.

No residents have tested positive for COVID-19 through any of the rounds of testing.

We currently have two active staff cases and no active resident cases of COVID-19.

On Monday and Tuesday this week we will again test all staff and residents for COVID-19.

We are very grateful to our staff who have done a fantastic job following infection control procedures and containing the spread of the virus during this outbreak.

We are as eager as residents and families to reopen for indoor visitation.  We will continue to work with the Minnesota Department of Health to determine when we can reopen to visitors.

The Minnesota Department of Health has set up a free hotline for anyone who has questions about COVID-19.  Call the MDH hotline at: 1-651-201-3920. We will continue to provide updates to you to keep you informed of our ongoing work.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at: Tim Kelly, Administrator at 218-338-1001; Lori Roers, Director of Nursing at 218-338-1009.

Sincerely,

Tim Kelly, Administrator

October 9, 2020 COVID-19 Update

October 9, 2020

Dear St. William’s Living Center and McCornell Court Residents, Friends, and Families:

I want to let you know that yesterday we were notified of a confirmed case of Coronavirus in a contracted therapy staff person. We have been regularly testing our staff and this is the first positive case that we have had.  We will continue to test all staff weekly and we will test all residents weekly until we have had no more positive cases for 2 weeks.  Our weekly testing is completed through the Mayo Clinic.  If any residents or staff have symptoms, we have rapid testing available through Sanford Clinic in Parkers Prairie.

Our priority is to keep everyone safe and healthy. We are working in collaboration with the Minnesota Department of Health to ensure we are taking all appropriate steps.

Until further notice we will not have any visitation with residents in the building or outside.  Compassionate care visits for end of life situations may continue.  We encourage loved ones to communicate with our residents by phone or video chat, if possible.  You may call our activity department at 218-338-1010 to set up a time to schedule a video meeting with a resident.

We will also implement enhanced infection control measures.  Such as limiting residents from congregating in the dining room, social spaces, or moving throughout the building.  We are monitoring and screening all residents two times per day for temperature and O2 sats.  We will continue to screen staff prior to beginning work. Staff are not allowed in the building if they are ill. Screening includes screening staff for symptoms and taking staff temperatures prior to each shift.  Any staff who exhibit symptoms are instructed to self-quarantine at home.

Communication is key, and we will continue to update you on any news, emerging issues, or additional changes in our operations via our website.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at: Tim Kelly, Administrator at 218-338-1001; Lori Roers, Director of Nursing at 218-338-1009.

Sincerely,

Tim Kelly, Administrator
